BLAIRSDEN, Plumas County — October 28, 2026. A historic one-lane bridge on Blairsden–Graeagle Road (County Road 521) remains on Plumas County’s official transportation project list. The county identifies the Blairsden–Graeagle Road Bridge, also known as Denten Bridge, as a proposed replacement project across the Middle Fork Feather River between State Routes 70 and 89.

What would change?

The county’s project description proposes replacing the existing narrow crossing with a new downstream bridge designed for one travel lane in each direction and a 25 mph design speed. New paved approaches, two spans, bridge rails designed to accommodate snow removal and foundations adapted to river conditions are part of the described concept. Those are planning details, not proof that the replacement is already under construction.

Why replace the bridge?

The county says Caltrans previously classified the crossing as structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. The published history traces a bridge at Denten Place to the 19th century, with a wooden predecessor constructed in 1882 and a later crossing erected in 1902. The county’s detailed project page also cites structural ratings from 2001 and 2009; those are historical assessment dates, not newly completed inspections in 2026.

Traffic and the transfer station

Plumas County says construction may require closing the existing bridge and roadway, with detours available over other paved roads in the area. It also says access to the county transfer station would be maintained during work. The public project overview does not supply an independently confirmed current start date, final contract award or October 2026 closure notice. Do not rely on a proposed detour as a notice that the road is closed today.

How the project fits into the county program

Plumas County lists the Denten Bridge replacement among several projects in development. Minutes of the October 20, 2025 Plumas County Transportation Commission meeting referred to Graeagle/Blairsden bridge replacement as being in the broader bridge-program queue. That statement describes the status reported at that meeting, not a later approval or construction milestone.
